How to Get Guests to Upload Their Wedding Photos
Setting up a gallery is only half the job - the other half is actually getting guests to use it. Most people are happy to share their photos, they just need a nudge and a genuinely easy way to do it.
Remove every barrier to uploading
The single biggest factor in participation is friction. If uploading requires downloading an app, creating an account, or figuring out a password, most guests won't bother. A QR code that opens straight to an upload page in the browser removes nearly all of that friction.
Announce it early and more than once
A sign at the entrance isn't enough on its own. Mention the gallery during the welcome toast, have the DJ remind guests partway through the reception, and repeat the QR code on table cards so people encounter it more than once.
Show them it's working
Displaying the gallery live on a screen near the dance floor gives guests visible proof their photos are landing somewhere real. Seeing their own photo pop up on screen is often the exact nudge that gets a hesitant guest to start uploading.
Make the ask personal, not generic
A generic "share your photos!" sign is easy to ignore. A specific line - "We want to see the wedding through your eyes, scan to add your photos" - feels more like an invitation than a task.
Give guests more than one chance
Not everyone uploads during the event itself. Keep the same link and QR code active for a few weeks afterward, and send a reminder in your thank-you message for anyone who forgot on the day.
Set up a gallery guests will actually use
OnAlbum makes uploading effortless for guests - scan, upload, done - which is the biggest lever for getting real participation. See how it works on the wedding photo sharing page, or create your event to try it.
